Terms of Service
Last updated: June 2026
1. What we do
HCAD Tax Pro ("we," "us," or "the Service") provides an online tool that analyzes Harris County residential property assessments using public appraisal data and generates an evidence packet you can use to file your own property tax protest with the Harris Central Appraisal District (HCAD) and its Appraisal Review Board (ARB). You file and represent yourself; we do not file on your behalf or appear at hearings.
2. Not a government agency
We are an independent service. We are not affiliated with, endorsed by, or connected to HCAD, Harris County, the State of Texas, or any other government entity. Any reference to "HCAD" identifies the appraisal district solely as the source of public records.
3. Not legal or tax advice
We are not a law firm, accounting firm, or registered property tax consultant, and we do not provide legal or tax advice. The information and documents we provide are informational tools to support your self-representation. If you need professional advice, consult a licensed professional.
4. No guarantee of results
Property tax protest outcomes depend on factors outside our control, including the ARB's judgment and your evidence. We do not guarantee any specific reduction, savings, or outcome. Estimates shown are illustrative and not a promise of results.
5. Fees and payment
- Checking your property and viewing your preliminary analysis is free.
- The full protest evidence packet is available for a one-time fee per property, shown to you before you pay. Payments are processed securely by Stripe; we do not store your full card details.
- Because the report is generated and delivered digitally, fees are generally non-refundable once the report has been produced. If something goes wrong on our end, contact us and we will make it right.
6. Your responsibilities
- Provide accurate information about your property and its condition.
- Verify all figures before filing.
- Meet all HCAD/ARB filing deadlines โ typically May 15 or 30 days after your notice of appraised value, whichever is later. We are not responsible for missed deadlines.
7. Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, the Service is provided "as is" without warranties of any kind. We are not liable for any indirect, incidental, or consequential damages, and our total liability for any claim relating to the Service will not exceed the amount you paid us for the report at issue.
8. Changes to these terms
We may update these terms from time to time. Continued use of the Service after a change means you accept the revised terms.
9. Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Texas, without regard to its conflict-of-law rules.
